28 Atlantic, the premier restaurant at Wequasset Resort & Golf Club, is not a place you’d want to dine every day, because the food is just too special. As is the elegance. As is the view. Come here when you’re ready to celebrate something truly special: An anniversary, a birthday, some other special event you want to elevate and share with a special someone.
The meal is a prix fixe, three courses or a larger tasting of seven. And the menu changes seasonally, so the delightful morsels I had won’t necessarily be what’s on your plate tomorrow. And the view, sunset over the marsh and waters, couldn’t have been nicer as well.
Oysters on the half shell are always a treat, and these were perfect: Sweet, salty, ice cold. The cocktail sauce was superb, with just the right amount of horseradish. Yum!
The main course, a seared and blackened filet of Chilean sea bass, served with celery and roasted veggies, was surprisingly filling, and I was glad that it was not a mammoth portion, because I needed room for the incredible dessert.
Sadly, the photo of dessert blurred in the dark room just a bit. As strange as it sounds, this was a soup with sesame seeds, strawberries, and cherry blossom granita. The combination of flavors was divine and was like nothing I’d ever tasted before.
